"Nexus Tribal" by Phil Thornton Album launch!
Saqarah are thrilled to announce that May’s event will play host to the launch of the long-awaited solo album by Phil Thornton, a long established world musician and composer best known in bellydancing circles for his collaborations with Hossam Ramzy in creating the renown “Egypt” CD trilogy. |

The new album, “Nexus Tribal” has a real mix of influences with a strong bellydancing theme, aimed at a variety of dance styles, including ATS, traditional, house and tribal fusion amongst others. While the songs have an instant familiarity to them and catchy musical phrases, the songs themselves draw influences from as far afield as Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia to the middle east and from cultural exchange with the Gambian Wollof, Jola, Madinka and Karandika tribes. It also benefits from close consultation with the high priestess of ATS herself, Carolena Nericcio. |

May’s Saqarah will draw together some of our favourite performers, both tribal and otherwise, to showcase the songs on the album, many of which have not been played or performed before tonight! Dancers confirmed so far include: |
